is proud
to have established an Educational Outreach Program for
the community of Flagstaff. We are committed to our long
term goal of offering financial educational opportunities
for all age groups to prepare them for life in the real
world.
Through primary and secondary classroom programs, bank
employees emphasize the importance of establishing savings
habits at an early age. For young adults the focus is on
preparing them for financial independence, establishing
and using credit wisely, as well as understanding the credit
process including opening a credit card, and applying for
a consumer loan.
Community programs encompass all facets of financial education
including establishing bank accounts, using debit cards,
savings habits, credit use, and buying a home.
Past activities include classroom presentations to area
elementary, middle, and high schools as well as local Boy
Scouts organizations. The bank sponsored an Internet/Phishing/Scams
seminar in March 2005, which was well received by the attendees.
Also in March, four First State Bank employees assisted
a local elementary school with their Junior Achievement
“Exchange City“ program in Phoenix. In 2004,
through a needs based grant program, the bank made a donation
of 20 computers to area schools.
We are proud participants of the American Bankers Association
annual "National Teach Children to Save Day" held
each April, with 2005 marking the bank’s 3rd year
of participation in this important program. This year we
had the privilege of having a representative from the United
States Department of Treasury assist the bank in its classroom
presentation. Another American Bankers Association program
we have been involved with is the annual “Get Smart
About Credit Day” held each October.
Our energy level is high and we look forward to serving the community with future programs. If you would like additional information on our program offerings, please contact Jennifer Rolley at 928-213-8888, or e-mail her at Jennifer.Rolley@fsbarizona.com.
We are here to serve you!
